Subject: Oh, one last thing...

I just heard that Anne McCaffrey, author of the wonderful Dragonriders of Pern novels and many, many more, passed away Nov. 21, at the age of 85. She was the first woman to win a Hugo Award and a Nebula Award in an era when male writers dominated the SF/Fantasy field.

Fare thee well, Anne - you will be missed!

[> Yeah, I heard! She was the first female author I read who got me reading fantasy and dragons. Before her it was the usual Ray Bradbury and Clifford D. Simak. She'll be missed but her legacy is AWE INSPIRING!!! -- Michele N., Friday, November 25, 06:16:04am

[> Anne McCaffrey got me hooked on fiction. I remember reading her Harper Hall series and the Dragon Rider series in 5th and 6th grades. I was sorry to hear of her passing, but her legacy will last forever. -- Ann Ann, Saturday, November 26, 08:23:40pm
