Subject: What to read... what to read..

So, I'm trolling for ideas.. I am completely caught up on my favorite authors and I need some fresh ideas and some new authors to try. If you want to suggest specific books even that is also fine. Right now I only want historicals: intelligent story lines, strong male characters (mama loves her Alphas!), hot steamy sex and some wicked attraction, great dialog. Here is a list of my historical auto-buys to give you an idea of who I love: Pamela Clare, Jacquie D'Alessandro, Madeline Hunter,Karen Marie Moning, Karen Ranney, Suzanne Enoch, Liz Carlyle, Sylvia Day, Lisa Kleypas, Elizabeth Hoyt, Paula Quinn, Anna Campbell..

Anybody got any ideas to help a sista out? I'm dying over here.. PEACE! :)

[> It's been so many years since I read historical. Where are you DebbieO? When I read them my favorites were Johanna Lindsey, Amanda Quick, Jude Deveraux, Kathleen Woodiwiss. I'm not sure how those stores have stood the test of time. Have you read the MacKenzie series by Linda Howard? Elizabeth Lowell's Only series? Catherine Anderson's Comanche series? The Enchanted Land series by Elizabeth Lowell? I'll keep thinking on it. -- Beaty, Monday, June 20, 09:02:30pm

[> I have discovered Julia Anne Long this year. I didn't think I would. The series started slowly for me but I was hooked by the third book. -- Reny, Tuesday, June 21, 02:32:03pm

[> I agree about Elizabeth Lowell's "Only series". Historical, westerns and very good. Also, have you tried The Proposition by Judith Ivory? HOT and good. What about Connie Brockway "All through the Night"; And if you like ALPHA, try Susan Johnson (any of hers probably but some of my faves by her are: Wicked (whew, hot flash just thinking of that one) and Taboo is another good one. Pure Sin by Susan Johnson too. How about Nicole Jordan? The Heartbreaker is excellent, another historical western. Let us know what you decide and what you think. I can't leave out Katherine O'Neal: Written in the Stars, The Last Highwayman, Master of Paradise. -- Robin, Tuesday, June 21, 03:47:35pm

Thank you, ladies! I have read most all of Nicole Jordan, Elizabeth Lowell, Susan Johnson, Johanna Lindsay, Kathleen Woodiwiss, and LOVED Connie Brockway's All Through The Night. I will check out some of these authors that I have not tried yet. Please share anything awesome that you come across and I will as well! Thanks! :-)

[> I was trying to think of authors that Kristi hadn't mentioned. I came up with Christina Dodd, she has had a recent book out Taken By The Prince that I loved and she also has a HUGE back list. I just checked my Amazon wish list: Jillian Hunter, Loretta Chase, Stephanie Laurens, Jennifer Ashley, Gaelen Foley, Nicole Jordan, Jo Beverly and Mary Balogh are some of my auto-buys. I hope this helps you a few more suggestions. -- Debbie O, Tuesday, June 21, 08:10:41pm

[> I'm going to sound repititive here, but some of my historical auto-buys who you didn't mention are: Mary Balogh (a MUST author for historical readers), Eloisa James, Loretta Chase, Jo Beverley and Jo Goodman. For really HOT historicals with totally alpha males, Susan Johnson can't be beat. And I second Beaty for Lowell's Only Series and Anderson's Comanche Series. Anderson's other older historicals are wonderful, too. -- Judy, Wednesday, June 22, 07:17:37am
