Subject: New to you

I can't really play now, but I was just thinking (yeah - I KNOW I should be working) about new to me authors. I've tried a couple and I'll be back to talk, but what about you? Have you given any new authors a try lately? Ricci! Are you out there? Did you enjoy any of our recommendations? Who did you try first?

I miss our new exciting finds talks!

Later....

[> Toni McGee Causey -- writes a seriees about a southern belle (and I use that term lightly) and an FBI agent. Hysterically funny! CHARMED AND DANGEROUS is the first one. Not sure if they are in e-format or not. -- AnnAnn, Thursday, May 17, 06:47:11pm

[> The newest to me authors are Marie Force. Heather says if you like Roarke you'll like Marie Force. I'm not as impressed as my Roarke fixation, but they are enjoyable.

Jennifer Estep's Spider series is another new to me. I have to say that I didn't enjoy the heroine in the first book. She was a real assassin and killed people for hire. Since that book, tho, she has grown and now family and friends mean everything and she only uses her skills for good. I really like the way she has grown. I just needed to get that first book under my belt.

Thea Harrison's DRAGON BOUND had me from the premise. I'd heard it was about a girl that had to steal a penny from a dragon. She replaced the penny with a different penny so the dragon wouldn't try to get the stolen penny back. She did not understand the nature of dragons. They don't give up anything. I am totally loving this series.

[> Linda, I keep hearing about Shelly Laurenston but I heard she writes paranormals? Does she write any plain ol' books that don't have magic or para stuff? -- Robin, Saturday, May 19, 05:52:41am

[> I have so many books here to read, by tried and true favorite authors that I don't get to experiment much with new authors. However, I want to try Jennifer Bernard "The Fireman Who Loved Me" cuz I heard he's an alpha male and that it is funny too, but I haven't received it yet....I will let you know. -- Robin, Saturday, May 19, 05:54:25am

[> Lisa Marie Rice for intense military-type alphas. And Kristen Ashley (downside: first person POV) - I read Rock Chick: Regret aaafter a big discussion on the Amazon boards, but she has a massive back catalog and I'm floundering! -- Beth, Wednesday, May 23, 05:49:28am

[> [> Are you saying you're trying to find something new to read? If so, what is it you like to read the most? I know some of what you like but not necessarily what you prefer. My tastes are very eclectic and I might be able to help. If not me - then someone else. -- Beaty, Friday, May 25, 06:47:13am

[> Yes, I'm still here! Been crazy busy with back to back events, but I did get to try the Shelly Laurenston, and loved it! Went into my typical obsessive compulsive mode, and read ALL her books in a matter of a week or two - needless to say, hubby wanted to find a new wife! *G* I've sort of gone off the pure urban fantasies for the moment - I find that the heroines have become very dark in most of them - I think it's a fashion thing, and hopefully someone will write a tough heroine that's not necessarily damaged beyond repair... One can hope! -- Ricci, Wednesday, May 30, 12:52:42am
