ben and steve,

First of all, replying your post just try to help, not intend to be a 高手.

Best advice for you is to learn some correct basics from a good teacher. Self-taught might waste your time and wear out your interest.

Second advice for you is to check out Larry Teal's book the Art of Saxophone Playing.

Last but not the least, instead of describing what's correct embouchure, I'll tell you what's wrong embouchure here:
- lower lip curve "too much" over lower teeth = wrong
- lower teeth "bite" lower lip to press reed = wrong
- upper lip too much muscle contraction = wrong
- lower lip too much muscle contraction = wrong
- muscle around mouth corners too much contraction = wrong
- mouth corners curving up like smiling = wrong
- mouth corners curving down like crying = wrong
- upper lip reaching out further than lower lip = wrong
- lower lip reaching out further than upper lip = wrong
- sound production is NOT equals to blowing
- blowing = wrong
- not producing sound with "building up pressure" in mouth like saying DA DA DA DA = wrong
- hear long "huuu..." air sound right before producing a sound = wrong
- use nose for breath intake = wrong
- no breathing support in sound production = wrong
- don't understanding "what is" and "how to" about breathing support = wrong
- biting/relaxing lower lip to sound in-pitch = wrong
- don't know how to control tongue's position and muscle contraction in different tone ranges and articulations = wrong

Hope above helps.

In order to avoid confusion, here a remark:

- hear long "huuu..." air sound right before producing a sound = wrong

Unless you want to do "subtone" playing intentionally.
