想買一枝alto.
聽人講yamaha YAS-875幾好.
但係唔知價錢.
大家可唔可以話一話我知呀.
同埋其實YAS-875 好唔好架呢 ???

Yamaha造工精美，而且易吹，最大缺點是欠缺個性。如果初學，可以買枝平價的Jupiter，將來要upgrade，再換Selmer或者Yanagisawa！

Jason,

Have you tried the new line of sax from Yamaha? I don't think they are bland at all. Especially the Z. I've done a side by side with a Z and a Selmer III and I would pick the Z, but that's just my opinion. Don't just listen to what people says about a sax. Try them out before you make your decision.

Sorry for using English, because I can't type Chinese. The Custom alto cost about 2500 USD. If you are a beginner, I recommend you not to invest that much money into it. Just get a student sax, you can always upgrade it later. The reasons being first, you don't know if you are serious or not. If you decided to quit in a month or two, you'll lost a lot of money. Second, you have not develop the ear to actually hear the different yet. Different saxophone makes sound differently. If you don't know what kind of sound you are going for it is hard to make a decision on what brand to buy.

well personally, i like 875 very much, I also tried my friend's serie3, i still prefer 875.

but do anyone hear know something on Buffet? what's the top line of sax there?

and a suggestion to 肥鴻, i saw a Unison in professional music service, cost hk$4000, second hand, i tried it and thought it is nice, quite heavy so thicker sound...if u dun mind a second hand one....

the YAS875 in HK is 23000 in tom lee, I saw a tenor 875 in wanchai tom lee original 29000 to 23000, so i think it is also a nice stuff to buy...but just dunno if the discount finishes.....

but I think if u wanna some jazz stuff, go for American stuff lar... cheap also!!!

What do you mean by American stuff? Do you mean vintage King, Conn and what not, or do you mean the Selmer USA? Most US sax makers have gone out of business, and the few that servived today import sax from other countries mostly. It is kindda sad, come to think of it.

About Buffet-Crampon. The current pro model sax is the S3 Prestige. It is made from copper like the 992. Buffet are very strong for orchestral works. I've never seen any Jazz player use a buffet.

Call up 譜揚 and ask. They sometimes have and they will quote over the phone. Nice horns. Not cheap. Well you pay for what you get.

Sorry Keith, I didnt make myself clear, at that time I was trying to get a classical sound, and the piece I was doing at that time is in English 'If you are there' (I forget its original name), so I thought Buffet is good...and I mean my Conn for the US stuff...well tell you what I receive a C melody yesterday, and it is in a good condition, maybe just need a small scale adjustment, all pads are fine...I love it as well as the Conn.
