Subject: Why this board is always like in the mood of 'death' ?

Sorry guys I dun really mean death, but shall we cheer it up a bit...or at least a little bit.

I am saying this because I love this board pretty much.

I apologize if the title offends you in any ways.

I asked a similar question sometime ago. Have you notice that no one ever post anything here on weekends?

It is free and everyone lives a differnet life, a life more than just internet forum. So people go away and do other things on weekends.

I think another reason is that lately Hong Kong people are very tense and under pressure due to unprecedent political turmoil. Overseas members may not feel/know it.

Anyway, I like to tell that I just bounght a big bundle of very good sax books/music over the weekend, including a book by Mishkit "Sax /flute lessons with the greats". This book has a CD of demo tracks. I had a great time going thro' it and these other books.

Just imitating the tracks instantly lifted my playing to a new high high level. Can't find enough time to play the horn now. So sorry friends. Got to sign off and leave this (dying?) forum to play some more.

yea...pressure....

like the music books mentioned above, with CDs. Is it we needa add some improvisation into these kind of music, because I found most of the books only have a very simple saxophone score.

sorry just a simple question

Whatever,

If you like improvising, you may like Jamie Aebersold's play-a-long series. It covers almost every jazz recordings. I use the play-a-long extensively.

thx Keith...

and is there any web space that we can post music and share among us?

Man,
I think classical is fine, if you try to buy several CD of Eugene Rousseau's, I think they are quite good...classical is training you for the basic

I have not done this myself, but I believe you can get free space from your ISP or any free web host and post your mp3 on it. Then you can just give anyone you want to share your music to with the link to that page.

¢ð¢í¢ô¢ô¢÷¡@¡I¡@¡@¢õ¢én¡@¡I

I bought these books over the weekend at Parsons Music, 9/F Times Square, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong:

1. The big easy alto sax, essential home library, Wise Publications (basic lead sheets) $133

2. Classical Jazz for saxophone, Wise Publications (also lead sheets, easy to play) $168

3. Blues for saxophone, Wise Publications (also lead sheets, easy to play) $129

4. Blues Saxophone, Dennis Taylor (master class instructions with demo CD), $140

5. The Jazz method for tenor saxophone, John O'Neil (intermediate level instructions/lessons with demo CD) $235

6. Sax/flute lessons with the greats, B Mishkit, (intermediate level instructions/lessons with demo CD) $195

After flipping/gunning/auditioning thro the books/CDs, I would recommend all except the first book which is not jazz or blues but classics, spirituals, marches, waltzes..... real easy.

See if you like any of one them.
