Subject: 初學使用吹咀問題

我有個朋友麊B友講我知，如果初學最好在買saxophone前，先買個吹咀試鴽j唔吹得響先。我便買左個Yamaha Alto 4C 鴽j咀，但唔知點吹佢又冇講，請問點吹謘H我吹左好耐都唔得。

既然已經買了mouthpiece，點解唔去tom lee上一次6人班，只不過500-600元左右

Wow, what a miss-information. Actually, blowing a MPC is harder than blowing a completed horn. Usually this procedure is used to correct someone's embrochure. Also, if you buy a Sax, a MPC usually comes with it. You just wasted your good money on a door stop. Did your friend sell you the MPC?

wasting...I agree, and you can use ur friend's mpc at this stage, and if you decide to learn, you can or should actually buy a better mpc than Yamaha's 4c.

Actually, Yamaha 4c is not that bad. Easy to use for beginner. When I started learning, I used the Rico M5, which is SO difficult to use (at least for beginner), when I changed to 4C, it's like I found heaven...

so the 4C is not a waste of money ga

Why did you use the Rico when you started learning? What is the facing of the piece? IMHO if you have to actually pay for a 4c that is a waste of money. I would not argue with you that it is a very easy and cheap piece for a beginner. I would not tell anyone to throw it away. However the sound it produce is not very good. If you get this piece for free, fine use it, and after a certain peroid of time you will move on and that piece can then only be used as a doorstop.

I use the Rico Royale and the opening is 5. This comes with the Weril Alto that I bought from Tsang Fook.

Actually, for beginner, I think 4C is not bad, because for beginners, the first object is to make a sound out of the instrument, and after a few months, maybe one can search for a MPC with better sound.

Just my opinion...

What I am trying to say is that it is not worth what you pay for it. For that kind of money, you can actually get a decent mpc instead of a doorstop. Try the Runyon Model 22 it is similar in price, but the quality is far better. Your Rico's opening is to damn BIG for a beginner. It is equal to a 7 meyer which is what most pro prefer when they play meyers. You see easy to play or not is not determine by the brand. It is determine by the opening and the reed strength.
