Subject: Is this an alternative ways that makes Conn so famous...........personal STRANGE experience

Well....maybe some of you guys know that I have a C-mel. and a Ladyface.....the story is like this:

Today, I was practising a classical piece with my Yamaha YAS32, later on I got bored....took out my Ladyface....but I was thinking that it is in a poor condition (if u know I wanna an overhaul on it) so.... not so happy.....but when I start on it...........amazingly, nearly everything is back, intonation...no leak...and even seems a bit cleaner...so I was so happy...but can anyone tell me a reason for this...I left it untouched for nearly 2 weeks, but somehow it fix itself??

the other odd thing is that...every time I open the case of the C-mel I make it up side down......and today even strange, after I open it in my usual way, I found the mpc is missing?!....and I search every where possible...but still missing and I know no one will steal that...finally I found it was hiding in the bell in a stable position....

a strange day...and I was totally amused.

Hi Whatever

I have never tried a Conn but it seems that it has good reputation. Is it really good? What do you feel when it compare with other brands? Is it expensive?

Lawrance,

the Conn is fine now.....but still need a replacement of a spring.....comparison is hard for me to make....really my last tenor used was another US tenor.....no clear brand....but proberbly of similar age as the 10M...
I just taken out every part of my C mel. I found it is an amazing job....will do some cleaning and then put them back to the sax...if this time I success....will consider risking my Conn...overhaul on my own

Lawrance,

Juz finish takind out every part of my C mel. and assembling them bak.....amazing experience.......I see a lot more than just playing.........but basically C mel. is of a simple structure....so I am not sure whether I will risk my Conn....but I did managem putting them back!

You have disassemble the sax yourself? Is it difficult? I am just thinking of disassembling my golden Dixon soprano and then take it to shop for electroplating with a layer of silver on it? I wonder whether it will sound better or not?

Lawrance,

yes I dissamble and assemble the C mel.....so several things bear in mind if u really want to do it.....mark the parts in ur own way the way u can understand and clearly mark them......dun feel tired doing so....when assembling them if u face a difficulty....dun be afraid u know u will sort it...never feel frustration........

but needa say is that I think the C mel's structure is pretty simple...maybe due to its early age.....where when I was trying the 10M I found it is much more complicated.....once I found my problem on the 10M is sovlved, I stop taking parts out.......

after I dissambling the C mel, I did some cleaning, and especially clean the pad for dust.....and after putting them back....I found several notes on the sax improves(I still have problems with the G in the lower register), the spring is better than b4....maybe it took a rest...

so good luck anyway! actually dixons can be used like doing experiments like this.....they are cheap.......never take any custom saxes because they are caliberated....dun mess things up
