Tom is right, repeated back crossing to good typed Blacks will keep the self blues progressing.I might add to raise out the self blue males until 3/4 grown or more, then evaluate the male feather structure. You want the males to have wide webbed, normal looking wingbows, sickles and tails.Narrow ratty (mostly shaft ) feathers or constant pinfeathers should not be used in self blues. I like calling these lavenders, they are a.k.a. self blue, true blue, gris perle, perlgrau, gris perla, grigio perla, perłowo szary, perlegrĺ, perlovoedá,and perlově edé.
