Many people don't have the standard of perfection and a good source for you is this website. On the home page there is a section that lists the breed characteristics of a bantam male, bantam female, large fowl male and large fowl female of the cochin breed. Click on those descriptions for some guidance. If you attend a few shows and observe what is going on, you'll learn that good birds stand out. Unfortunately, some judges occasionally make a mistake and that can throw off a newbie to the hobby. If you want show quality birds, go to shows and talk to breeders. They have a wealth of information that can help you along with way.
