Last fall I purchased a few young bantam cochins from a breeder. When I received them, some of them had messed up feathers. I thought maybe they got ruffled in shipping. They looked like they needed to be brushed so they would lay flat. These are mainly the large wing feathers. Now that they are older and still have the lacey looking feathers, I am wondering if this is a breeding fault that I need to cull from my flock. I have a few chicks now from these birds and do see the lacey look in a few of them. Can anyone shed some light on what I have going on in these birds? Note, these are not frizzled feathers. The best word I can come up with is lacey to describe them. I sure would appreciate some education on this. Thanks.
