A lot of previously recognized varieties in a lot of breeds were created and then let go. There are only so many breeders to go around and not everyone is willing to devote the pen space, feed and time necessary to keep some of these varieties around. There are some Lemon Blues around but you see them infrequently. A bigger shame to me is some of the extablished varieties that were around in the beginning of the APA (1873) are disappearing as well. I've been working on Partridge Cochin Large Fowl for 10 + years now, trying to get them back and they were around in the beginning. Several others are currently workign with Partridge Cochin Bantams. Be aware that not a single Partridge Cochin was shown at teh 1998 Joint National Show in Columbus in either LF or Bantam. If you are genuinely interested in this variety, get some of the Project birds and make a commitment to raising them. We need more people working to re-establish the varieities that were let go and far less trying to make new ones.
