Subject: Mulgrew's Jan. 19 Appearance in Sacramento

Don't read if you live off the need to think that J/7 is really going to happen in anyone's minds but our own.

Perhaps it's just my interpretation.

Also, "Tea at Five" is possible for NYC in March rather than February.

I got that same feeling too andrewsfan. Here is another report:
http://www.trekbbs.com/threads/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=UBB5&Number=658562&page=1&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=7&fpart=1

Its a link to a thread over at Trek BBS. The same report is posted over at the J-team as well.

Thanks gabby5, that was an interesting thread.

I visited
http://www.creationent.com/calendar_frame.htm

KM still listed for Seatle AND she is tentatively listed for June in Plano, TX - that's just outside of Dallas YEEHA!

I travelled to Plano in 1998 (I think it was 98 - tough to get old) to see Jeri Ryan. If anyone goes DO NOT believe that there is an airport bus to Plano. It's a %&%&$# $50 taxi ride. *ouch*

I've never been to a convention. I've read tons of reports on Mulgrew and a few on Ryan. Whats Ryan like at cons? I read that she has a great sense of humor and it very nice to the fans. She hasn't done any cons recently but I heard she may be going to London in May for a con.

I've seen Jeri Ryan at two cons. She is funny and nice to fans just as you've heard. I've always been struck by how natural she seems. Both times I've been impressed by how comfortable she seems "in her own skin" and I'm not talking nudity here. She seems very comfortable with who she is. I've felt that I'm seeing Jeri the person rather than just an actress or celebrity.

She is also more beautiful in person. If you can believe that but it's true.

Tends to time her arrival at cons very close. Flies in the day of her appearance and is rushing from the airport. At least for my two experiences.

I'm surprised Boston Public hasn't done some kind of Con. Lots of stars to draw a crowd.

I've never heard of shows like BP doing conventions. I mean ER, Alley McBeal, The Pratice, even sitcoms like Will and Grace don't do conventions do they? The only shows I've heard that do them are science fiction based or like Buffy or Xena. I know soaps do something like a soapfest or a fanfair. It would be interesting to see a BP convention but probably hard to get the star to attend. Hey if I had the chance I'd go. :)

Good Con articles! Thanks. BTW, the picture of her as Hepburn is spot on... her total immersion into KH's character (as we "know" it), is evident in the photo. I've never thought that KM truly resembled KH, and yet there she is! Now that's acting. *g*

God, I worship KM. It just doesn't go away.

But how I feel about Jeri Ryan is that she'd look damn good in KM's arms.....

I don't think it's just your imagination, andrewsfan -that's exactly the way I read her comments. Sigh - can't she see that Seven and Janeway just belong together? Of course, Trek is such a straight world these days that I suppose it's too much to ask. I still think about Berman's quip not long ago about "We don't see two straight crewmembers holding hands in the corrridors, so it would be out of place to show two gay crewmembers doing that". Well, we may not see them holding hands, but we did see Jim kiss a bunch of scantily-clad "alien babes", and Picard had his share of women, not to mention Riker's many conquests and his ever-enduring relationship with Deanna, who had her own flings ; then there was Beverley and a couple of guys, Sisko and his girlfriend, later his wife; Jadzia and Worf, Kira and Bareil, Kira and Shakaar, heck, even Odo and Kira - the list goes on and on.. I don't mind watching them play kissy-face, but it would be nice to see a same-sex couple for a change

I do despair that things will ever change and that this show which was such a ground-breaker in its original form (although it was also paradoxically very sexist, but that's anotrher story) will ever break this ground too.

Having said that, I will admit that I get to liking the J/7 world more and more and the televised Trek world less and less, but I'll probably never tire of watching Kate Mulgrew play Janeway, even if her affections would be misplaced in some possible future film - I 'll just have to hold my nose during the love scenes.
