Subject: A preference for cunning

I think I too could call a preference for the cunning or heroic captain, because in that, we got the entire story. She saved the ship, her crew and their quest for home. The other things, were never completed... we never saw how those things effected her. I think the dissconnect, is where we see those things as having effected the captain, Mulgrew sees those things as having effected the captain and uses that in her work, but TPTB just dropped it all and we and the actor have to piece it all back together.

Do you remember in "Relativity" when the early Janeway first sits in the command chair - the look on her face - imperious, arrogant, entitled and completely in control. She knew every inch of her ship and let everyone know it. I loved that portrayal because that's just the sort of person who attains a captaincy. Not to mention her incredible memory - to remember that tiny flux in the whatjamacallit as something that happened years earlier in drydock. (Of course, remembering the attractive ensign? Well, that wouldn't take too much work *g*.) That's our Katie! Throughout this episode I saw the Captain I knew and loved. And that was in the fifth season...what the hell happened? You don't have to answer that one. *g*
