okay I get that KM wanted KJ to be a bit removed, but the chemistry between actors/characters is imperative. Logic dictates that you go where ever the chemistry is and truthfully, there was more chem between Ryan and Mulgrew than other characters/actors. Maybe it was the adverserial foundation form the beginning but it doesn't matter. It id obvious that with the volume of writing (FF) about 7 and KJ that the chem was there but was missed by TPTB. Coulda had a contenda.

The book that Janeway was reading at the end of the episode really got to me last night. She told the Doctor that it reminded her of his situation, but that doen't really ring true. I'm paraphrasing here, but the first line in the book is something like..."My life didn't begin until I met you."
Interesting choice of books, no?

From what they've all said in interviews, it seems that the actors very definitely wanted the relationships (all of them) more completely established. I can see that given the material, both KM and JR would have been pleased to see that their characters seemed to have developed a familiarity in the time between episodes. However, it would have been nice for us to see it just a bit and to have carried it through to Endgame. The interesting thing about Endgame is that I don't think that there was any episode where Janeway and Seven were more distant than that one. The scene in sickbay, when the Admiral gets that gooey look on her face was almost wasted because we didn't get to see younger Janeway react to it... that's HER giving away so much in a look... giving away what she, the younger Janeway hides, regardless of the type of affection anyone chooses to define... Janeway's reaction would have been important there. Seven, for a moment is almost rude to the Admiral who is wearing her heart on her sleeve... and then is all business with the Captain. I kind of wished that scene was longer... perhaps it needs a rewrite. So far nobody has actually re-written the episode itself, just the outcome. The novelization was oddly devoid of emotional insight, almost a comment free synopsis. Hmm....

You're so right Rose, it would have been telling to see Janeway's (the Captain) reaction to the Admiral's emotional greeting. As for Seven's coldness, I wasn't as surprised by it, as I could imagine her distaste for time travellers, and also her distrust. I mean after all they went through in "Relativity," would the real Janeway (Seven's Janeway) be so foolish as to attempt to mess with the timeline? I interpreted Seven's coldness as her not trusting the Admiral(perhaps she had gone the way of Braxton?). Clearly she still was loyal to her Captain though. To be frank, I was so disgusted with the C/7 thing that it was hard to really pay attention to Seven too closely. Her judgement was so questionable itself.
