I read the title and thought it was an ode to the school system and its disciplinary system. Suspension indeed *g*

Okay - a two-pronged (ouch) poll

1) Do you drink coffee? Reveal your coffee habits

2) What kind of student were you? Did you ever get suspended?

I will answer but first I will let the braver posters guess about me. How well do you think you know the OBB?

1) Do I drink coffee??? Hmm... depends if I have given it up or not... and how late I am working. Currently I am on a food fad so it has gone the way of the dinosaur, with wheat and yeast - until I can't bear it any more and crack under its seductive aroma...

2) 'Frustrating' was probably the term most often used by tutors - I loved the reading and the thinking, did my friends homework, rarely found the need to do my own. Suspended...??? Expelled actually... um, twice.

Have no idea about the omnipotent turtle's academic lifestyle... I'll leave that to more divinely inspired posters...:)

I rarely drink leaded coffee, get too monkey with it<->. BUt prefer Pinon/Hazel Nut. When drinking 'the hard stuff' I want coffee with bite. French roast or turkish- boiled.

I was good in school, well disruptive (i know that's hard to believe), but good in grades. Never had parents called in for disciplinary stuff. I really liked school. College was another case all together however. Scho Pro twice, graduated Laudy How Cum. Not enough structure imposed and too little responsibility to impose it on myself. Still not sure I am even out of puberty as I had back to school zits!

Looking in my crystal ovary I see andrewsfan as a reserved studious young woman, who then broke out, tumbling for awhile, only to return to the person she was. Cryptic, no?

1)Drink about 10-12 cups of black coffee a day. I'll drink anything as long as it's not flavored and strong. Cafe Bustello is particularly good at kick-starting one on cold New England mornings.

2)Schooldays...ugh. Trying to block those memories. "Welcome to the Dollhouse" circa 1980.

I guess the OBB for a tea drinker, though I don't know why.

I can't picture her as a schoolgirl. But Stockard Channing in "Grease" flashed through my mind when I first read the question.

1)I've cut down to a cup of joe about every couple days.

2)And yes, I managed to get myself suspended from school, ohhhh let's see a few times or more. Gosh I just hated to follow well established rules at times! Weren't they made to be broken? Aren't some still made to be broken?

Now let's see, the OBB... coffee, yes, probably not a lot though. And suspensions...no absolutely not. I can't imagine the little turtle making too many waves! *g*

1) Yes, I drink coffee. Mostly the stuff with bite - espresso or French Roast, milk (but dark) no sugar.
Sometimes though there are days when heavy cream and a bit of sugar are a bit of a treat. I find that I drink the most coffee when I'm reading Trace Cook's stories... *g*

2)What kind of student? Well, early on... meaning elementary school I was one of those kids who got "not working to her full potential" on the report card every year. I kind of skated through Highschool with B's and C's although my D in math in 11th grade was the reason I was rejected from the Fredonia music program... Creatons. I almost didn't graduate from highschool because I'd basically cut gym for about two years...because I hated changing my clothes (wonder why THAT was...) but the very lesbian gym teacher ended up passing me, after she had me run the track three times a day for the last month of school. The last thing she said to me on the last day when I went in for my 'assignmnet' (of course AFTER I'd changed) was "Don't bother with the track. I'm passing you because I never want to see you again. And I hope you try to pull this crap in college, because you won't get away with it there." Suspiciously over the top no?

Yes, I was suspended in College. It seems that you can't just work in the theatre 24 hours a day and still pass your other classes... Therefore... Miss Shander was right.

Stockard Channing in "Grease!" What a great image casey. *g* I sorta pegged OBB as more of a "problem like Maria," actually. Can't imagine her drinking lead either.

OT: hope your back is feeling better af.

1. I love good strong coffee - though I usually only drink one cup a day. More when with friends - I'm a social drinker.*g*

2. I had two college professors for parents, and they LOVED teaching, so you can bet I was a good student, whether I wanted to be or not. No suspensions but I skipped all morning classes in college - constant all-nighters made morning calculus a horror not to be endured!

1. Yes, I drink a lot of coffee - at least I did 'til the doc and my stomach said, "NO MORE CAFFEINE". Now I drink nothing but decaf (and yes, I still enjoy it!). I'm not above stopping off at the local brew house for a cap w/soy milk.

2. Never got suspended - I tried to be a rebel but I guess I just 'stretched' the boundries and never broke them. (But that was in the days when they had smoking lounges for juniors and seniors so....things were a little more 'laxed.)

and OBB? I think she occassionally drinks coffee - flavored - but prefers hot chocolate. the suspensions? I don't think so but she is good at suprises! :-)

Oh, right, the OBB.

OBB- High test, black
AF - High test, 2% milk no sugar
andrewsfan- soy latte
turtle - tea. The English kind... no bag.

Mika, cryptic yet very profound. You must write very intriguing student reports. I can see parents reading your comments feeling good and uneasy all at the same time. *g*

Ah, well I'll answer the questions backwards.

First my academic history - I think everyone has me pegged. I am a rule abidding denizen of academia at
least from a discipline standpoint. My parents valued good behavior more than good grades. As long as I didn't get into trouble being average was a wonderful thing. Hey, my folks saw themselves as average so what more could they expect from their daughter. *g*

In elementary school (1-8) I was a good, attentive student. High school the same though I did get bored senior year and didn't excel in all subjects but nothing very serious. Just not working up to my potential...oh, that dreaded phrase. I didn't go to college right after high school. Expense, lack of interest on my part and lack of encouragement, it was 1973 and in my family college was rare for anyone let alone a GIRL!! *g* But I
did go to a junior college a year later. After about a year I stopped. Couldn't decide on a major or rather didn't want to go into a business major. After all why else did one attend college? In my neighborhood Liberal Arts wasn't viewed as being very practical. *snort*

Ah, but I have always enjoyed school and am a student at heart so about nine or ten years later I heed my inner being and return. I'm an adult now, almost thirty. I have about 1 1/2 years of credits to my name and need 2 1/2 years more to get a degree. I go back part-time. It was fine for awhile but then I hit a wall. Started not getting papers done and taking incompletes in classes. An incomplete that isn't finished by the next semester becomes an IF - incomplete failure which counts as an F in the Grade Point Average. It happened four classes (maybe more) in a row but because
my GPA was so high and I had about three years of credits (by then) it hardly made a dent in my GPA It went to a low B/high C and so I was not in any danger of flunking out. Nevertheless, I realized that pressing on wasn't going to make it better. Rather than continue in a downward spiral I decided to take a break, get my head/act together and return in a year. I go to see the Dean, Sr. Jean Delores and tell her I'm withdrawing from school. A self-imposed suspension (yes, Angie I am full of surprises). I did intend
to try to complete those Incompletes during my year off. HA! I did finish ONE. Decided that I needed to look forward not back. So I went back a year later (as I planned) and accepted the IFs (heck at least I wasn't a COMPLETE failure ;-). My first semester back was a bit scary but once I did it, the rest was just fine. The GPA went back up and I graduated at the ripe age of 34. I'm a
turtle but a turtle with a degree. *g*

My brewed beverage habit - well, you folks certainly were all over the board with that one.
Rose your choice for AF was close - high test 2% milk no sugar

I drink coffee always a golden brown never with sugar - that's what donuts are for
Never black, never flavored - the coffee or the creamer
I like a stiff cup but not too strong
My first cup of the morning MUST have caffeine
You nor anyone in society wants to meet me until that first cup
How much I consume varies - anywhere from 3 - 8 cups a day (4 or 5 usually)

I only drink tea if I'm sick - and then only something like Lipton decaf (and I have to be really sick)
strangely I cannot abide milk in my tea and must always have it plain - just tea (go figure)

My dad was a coffee drinker. I couldn't wait until I was old enough to drink coffee (13 or 14). It was a rite of passage for me. Oddly my brother has never been a coffee drinker but he does drink beer which was my dad's other favorite brew. *g*

Oh, when I re-enrolled after my year off. Sr. Jean was thrilled when I called her and told her I needed to be re-instated. I was surprised and said, "I said I'd be back this fall." Her response, "Susan everyone says they will be back but after that kind of academic trouble it seldom happens."
Sometimes it's best not to know the odds. *g*
