I adored the first episode even though I was still mourning the breakup of Buffy and Angel. The phone call was such a poignant reminder of that history that it made tears pop in my eyes.

"Can you fly?" is still my favorite line from any of the episodes and was said with such quiet malice (something we hadn't seen except in Angelus) it made the hairs on my arms stand up.

But my favorite was the use of slow motion when Angel steps off the bar stool. The whole scene brought a maturity and commitment to Angel's new life that hadn't existed before, IMHO. Besides, DB was very hot in that scene. *g*

i remembered last night.

gosh...such a good eppy. i forgot there was a time when angel had funny moments.

cordy was so cordy.

i had completely forgotten about doyle.

blondes blondes everywhere blondes. i never noticed before.

i love when cordy realizes russell is a vampire. i loved the scenes of her down and out. loved angel pretending he was drunk. loved him in his hawaiian shirt and hat. loved it back then when he was all solo and living in that dark dank hole in the wall.

and i loved when it was all just a case by case thingy.

i forgot W&H was presented so early in the series. and yeah...him pushing russell out the window is an all time classic.
