Dru and Cordy represent Kathy, the sister figure.

Recall, Liam literally got down on one knee, pledging his troth to return for her. Note the "mother superior" with her arms around her, keeping her from him and "obedient" to the father.

Yes, it is utterly creepy in that context of a bride, clearly reinacted in Dru, and it is why Cangel utterly is both silly and a disaster in losing sight of Cordy's actual character and in a grown woman "regressed" to force a ship that just never would have happened, according to Cordy, who always felt Buffy was a ridiculous woman.

Of course, the 'sister' became the mother to the child--reprised in Darla/Dru. Connor specifically is "the real person" of Liam/Angel/Angelus and we are seeing the whole thing played out like the latter is "reality," and ACTUALLY is the fairy tale world of Connor, who suffered a trauma at the age he was 'born of hell.'

So we ALSO go around with Concord (mother and son, the Oedipus complex reprised in the more "mature" fantasy of a more "appropriate" partner in the sibling, than in taking the mother from the bed of the father--pure Freud) to really bring on the barf for the re-enactment of Osiris/Isis in reverse gender, a myth that is actually a most romantic, faithful and beautiful tale: all the qualities represented in the Claddagh given to Buffy and a further explanation why Angel is called "the eunuch."

As I see it; any help there?
Be well
