Subject: BTVS Rewatch Lessons

The final season...20-some eps left.

This, I believe, is the ep that was supposed to inspire support for a Dawn spinoff. It had Dawn and two other kids fighting monsters (zombies) in the new Sunnydale high, on Dawn's first day. Buffy's around too, and gets hired as the counselor in this ep. We also meet Principal Wood.

There's a lot of talk about the Hellmouth opening and the First Evil, and we actually meet it in the end of the ep, taking the forms of different dead people.

In England, Giles is trying to mentor Willow while the coven helps her learn to control her power.

Of course, since many fans hated Dawn, the spinoff never did really have a chance LOL.

I just remember "It's about power." And Buffy essentially losing so much of it re her connections, which she later tells Spike. She is flinty, at best. I think "this is Buffy" after season 5 coming back "wrong"--well, she really did. Her power is in mercy and I am sick to death of disconnected/disassociative/angsty/agonized Buffy. It's the drama of drag.

The new kids on the block actually lasted less long than these new kids, but included a Carlos. heh.

I think they tried a spin off idea for Spike/Faith/Wood that died before it started. Too bad. AWESOME promise there because NOTHING was a restriction of WHERE/WHEN the story would unfold.

I remember Dawn suddenly repeating Buffy's failed attempt at her first vamp and Buffy admitting it happened to her, but never again. She learned. She's a cold hearted itch, looking for the final solution, which, as you know, caused too much "good" in the universe, so there was an imbalance that brought about a "reckoning" quickly forgotten, of course, except magic is only "within." Preggers Buffy is probably the connection to DAwn and thus it has to be Xawn, as they keep bringing up how no one manages to finish school.

I don't know if that means we never stop learning lessons, or because we are all latent geniuses driving some army of nerds or devising Face Book, by screwing over our friends when power is to be had/bought.

I recall Xander, the insightful architect, speaking of the new high school still having the hellmouth under the library--where the books live, but the question is which knowledge lives there (and is now "missing" in season 9 aka Giles) and WHICH knowledge works? That is the question and seems to be driving season 9.

I recall so little of Buffy after season 3, I have to swim through the whole to find the bones of anything. VKMAX has a question on that up stairs, so gonna make the climb!

Angel Watcher! I wish more people would give a tinker's for your efforts. I am quite sure it will be the last. I think the river has made ruins and smoothed away the runes with us writing our own stories?
BE WELL
