Subject: How would Firefly have evolved...

...had it not been cancelled? From the canonical comics we got a few answers, like Zoe being pregnant by Wash and finally getting Books backstory, even if it was inconsistent with the shows clues of his past. Where else would they have gone? What was the Blur Sun corporation? Why did Inara leave her homeworld and why was she a drug addict as Joss alluded to in the Serenity commentary?

Where would they have gone, arc-wise, with each character and the overall story, in your opinion? Personally I love long character arcs wherecharacterevolves frot one person into seemingly entirely different one. I guess Wesley is the best example of this, Whedon-wise. Would Simon have dropped his pretentious, pompousness and become a rough-and-tumble part of the crew? Personally I think we got a foreshadowing clue of the future direction of Simon in Ariel when he planned the job. I think, either by choice or necessity, Simon would've left the ship--maybe even leaving River behind as the ships post-Wash pilot--and eventually begin running his own criminal crew, getting darker and darker, even a murder, but never losing his respect for logic and practicality.

While ultimately all of this speculation is pointless, since the Firefly universe has essentially collapsed upon itself, such guesswork still entertains me and, I suspect, still interests some of you. So...where would they have gone, in your opinion, and where would you have gone?

Interesting. Wash was dead so Zoe might have gone utterly cold-hearted and out for revenge and then discovered she was pregnant.

Inara and Mal might've got together but that seems like a dead end as they probably would've argued until the cows came home. I daresay they're still arguing.

River would be too dangerous too allow anywhere and would possibly realise this. She'd take herself away for further adventures in the galaxy and leave her brother to find a life of his own. Of course, she'd probably drop back into his life at deeply inconvenient moments.

Hmmm ...

It wouldn't end well for anyone. Look at Joss's track record. Dead or alive but miserably unhappy is what you get in ANY Joss story. Fortunately, when he works on big movies the corporate masters force him to write happy endings.

River would have been the one looking after the baby so potential is preserved. A Mofo more than a Milf seems to be required to both destroy the world and save it, according to Joss. And myth. heh.
