Well the theme I was trying for with this MNA was being strong enough to go on in the face of loss. "Good things will happen if you have the will to keep living" was a quote (or at least a close paraphrase) from storylines in both Bleach and One Piece that I watched recently. I am not sure how popular Joss Whedon's work is in Japan but the themes he explores would certainly be familiar although the Western attitudes are almost certainly very different. Although both cultures romanticize death way too much in my opinion. (It upsets me that Romeo and Juliet is considered such a great romance. I prefer the more practical view towards life and love that you get from authors such as Tolstoy or Shaw.)

OHhh! Be happy because everyone really does lose everything--and knowing you can survive does make you stronger, maybe even more appeciative. However, I also don't believe in survival at all costs-- very much admired and hoped for in heroic lore, just in the potential of "what next" of survival. When you do the living you also see that Death is also the face of love and can be a gift. Seriously.

I think I'm practical, too. I wouldn't be the guy to go to some far flung star or crawl over Everest, just because it's there. IT CAN KILL YOU. That's my survival strategy. Arm chair travel really is so pleasant, the camera pointed always at the pretty. It has fewer annoyances, it's less smelly and is definitely less "time consuming."

Those comics with Connor's death and the cover of Connor holding Angel are simply too much. I've seen war. But, having been there with my wife. I'll never get over it, even if I diffuse myself now otherly. I't would definitely break me if something happened to my daughter. Check out city. gone.

Yup, guaranteed wuss. I even drag some flowers indoors and torture the things all winter, never getting a rest from blooming and growing, even Annuals. Throwing a little water is all they get, but they do survive! Poor things. ha!

Bleach is pretty rough...(head nodding). You must be steel! (Carry me!) hee hee
Be well
