and then the economy collapsed. One of the first things that seems to evaporate (along with jobs) is environmental awareness. We go from "stop the evil offshore drilling" to screw the environment as long as I can fill my tank. We go from doing everything we can to stop big sugar (and others) from destroying our natural waterways to "to hell with fresh water just please, please get me a job". Of course people find out (always too late) that no jobs are created. A few millionaires become billionaires and we have less natural resources than before but that's about all that changes.

The only thing that saves us is that SOME of the billionaires actually do care about the environment and buy up lands but mostly entropy ensues. Fortunately, a lot of the animals just shrug and move next doors, like the anoles and coyotes and bobcats have done fairly successfully. Oh and vultures love people. If you listen you can hear them saying "thanks for all the free road kill and nice high perches."




(That's the Miami courthouse those vultures are perching on. Gotta love it.)
