Many US citizens will drink massive amounts of beer, have picnics, and watch fireworks. I won't be doing that, but sure hope you got to do something fun today!

They've kicked butt in every war they've ever been in, including tromping the US TWICE. Their dollar is now worth more than the US dollar. There's a good reason why when things go completely fubar in the US people go north. The only thing they really have to complain about is Scott the Dick.

. . . because I don't watch South Park. Our loonie hasn't been worth more than the US dollar for a while now. Our sacred cow "one tier" health care system is ok, if you want to wait six months to see a specialist (or go to the US to see one immediately and not be reimbursed for the visit) and another 3-6 months for the required operation is you last that long (or have the operation done in the US immediately and not be reimbursed for the operation). The Canada goose is a curse to us and to our neighbours to the south. Sorry about that. We apologize for things beyond our control, which makes us nice and polite but kind of pathetic.

But . . . we have *the* best love affair with *the* best sport in the world. I don't understand people who don't feel the same. Hockey begins when the weather's warm and ends when it's hot, and then we relive seasons past until a new season begins. What's not to love? And we have HD TV - a must for watching hockey.

I am a happy Canadian. :-)

and trust...there are plenty of americans that would love to leave...

.....but nobody wants us. *chuckle* it's pretty hard to become a citizen elsewhere.

My husband has hunted and fished there many times, but I didn't get to go. As a side bar, I love that my local cable company has put their customer support up there. Not that I have any problems with India, but things run much smoother in the phone conversations. Also, having lived in MN, I love the accents of some regions!

I love listening out for those little Canuck inflections in TV shows made north of the border... The girl who plays Kara on Smallville had an especially awesome "aboot" moment in the season finale - it seems Krypton might be located somewhere in the Yukon ;)
