Many US citizens will drink massive amounts of beer, have picnics, and watch fireworks. I won't be doing that, but sure hope you got to do something fun today!

They've kicked butt in every war they've ever been in, including tromping the US TWICE. Their dollar is now worth more than the US dollar. There's a good reason why when things go completely fubar in the US people go north. The only thing they really have to complain about is Scott the Dick.

I love South Park and totally missed the reference. I think you make me google more than any other poster. *hugs* I love to learn...was once known as the queen of useless information, so I like to keep up my title.

. . . because I don't watch South Park. Our loonie hasn't been worth more than the US dollar for a while now. Our sacred cow "one tier" health care system is ok, if you want to wait six months to see a specialist (or go to the US to see one immediately and not be reimbursed for the visit) and another 3-6 months for the required operation is you last that long (or have the operation done in the US immediately and not be reimbursed for the operation). The Canada goose is a curse to us and to our neighbours to the south. Sorry about that. We apologize for things beyond our control, which makes us nice and polite but kind of pathetic.

But . . . we have *the* best love affair with *the* best sport in the world. I don't understand people who don't feel the same. Hockey begins when the weather's warm and ends when it's hot, and then we relive seasons past until a new season begins. What's not to love? And we have HD TV - a must for watching hockey.

I am a happy Canadian. :-)

drank one measly glass of wine, watched massive amounts of Terminator and Jaws movies on our sci-fi channel, and another massive amount of TV/internet coverage of the NHL free agent signings. A good, good day. :-)
