Subject: new Burn Notice this week --- woohoo!
In reply to: gretch 's message, "wudja watch?" on 09:08:47 07/07/08 Mon

just had to mention it.

i was at my grandmother's most of the weekend...she lives in a really rural area and gets one tv channel - the Chattanooga ABC affiliate. so i saw: local news, Wheel of Fortune, the last half hour of Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, and Eli Stone.

at home last night i watched the new L&O CI, but it was crazy depressing. one of those episodes that causes me to wonder why i watch a show. last week's also made me wonder. two weeks in a row makes me uneasy. i don't like to give up my staples.

mr volt saw Wanted and gave it a positive review.

When I visit my mom-in-law in Manitowoc, WI. it's the same deal. Lots of Wheel of Fortune, local news, and local sports. It got so annoying at one point, I took a walk when it was -5 degrees.

but i think i fell asleep before it was over.

my dad was trying to get my grandmother one of the coupons to help with getting a converter box when everything goes digital next year...but they won't send the coupons to post office boxes...which sort of doesn't make sense, because it seems to me that a fair number of the people who would need those coupons may live in rural communities and use p.o. boxes. craziness.

my grandparents never had a mailbox. they got their mail when they went into town, typically once a week unless they needed something urgently, or twice a week if my sister and i were there and could convince them to take us to the Tastee Freeze.

That's ridiculous about the coupon issue. If it's supposed to be free, it shouldn't matter where it goes. Besides, you're right in that there are many rural people who don't have mailboxes. I love Eli Stone as a side note, and miss it. I'll have to try and catch some reruns. Thanks for mentioning it!
