To come out and admit to one's most intimate friends and family that one has a problem with addiction...is one thing. To come out in the public eye in the most human and vulnerable way...to me...is incredibly brave. It is painful to live with addiction, whether you are the addict or a loved one of an addict.

To ask for help is a step-forward milestone for any addict. Leif seems to have done this on more than one occasion...still try to hold his head high and move on forward with life in some sort of grace. No one is perfect. We all miss the mark in some way.

I wish him well...good health, happiness, inner-peace, and love for self and a significant other. May he continue to fight the battle and continue to be an example to others that one just has to put one foot in front of the other. I dare anyone to walk a mile in his shoes.

[> [> Well put, Stacy. I don't know how Leif does it sometimes. I have plenty of flaws. I see them reflected back at me every day. Just imagine having people tell me to give up and that I'm washed up-that actually does happen in real world jobs too. But to have strangers judging you constantly....no wonder Leif hates the internet. Maybe rehab will work, maybe Leif will find the support he needs. Regardless, he's still here through all the negative comments, there are a few flickering hopeful voices. I don't want him to fail and I don't want him or anyone to give up. We all have a reason to be here and I hope we all find and give a bit of happiness and love while we are here. Peace :) -- Bonnie, Mon, Nov 01 2010, 18:50:02 [1]

[> [> [> The 3rd Side of the Brand Image -- Stacy, Wed, Nov 03 2010, 11:33:08 [1]

I don't think Leif Garrett is washed up...nor do I think that of most of the child actors/singers. I think they get their fill of the spotlight...as it must BURN bright...then go live real lives out of the spotlight.

I wanted to add, that I do think this last record finally showcases his voice. He has a soft voice, so less is more when it comes to the instrumentation...and there are several songs that do this well. It would be nice to hear some new material, particularly with Celeb Rehab coming up. It would be fantastic timing to say..."Here's the new product."

As far as the internet goes...I think someone in his management would do well to pay attention to the overall story that is being published. I am sure there is a whole lot more to the man than addiction. This sight alone has posted places and charities that he's performing...the official site is not posting this info.

I don't want to know anything about his or anybody else's personal life...that should be sacred. However, I would like to know about his work. What does LEIF GARRETT, THE BRAND stand for these days? What and how did the record label come about? Does he mentor other artists? Does he do voice over work? Could he do a "books on tape"...I would buy a tape with him reading the encyclopedias...ha...but, I am serious!

I think his brand has enormous potential to be marketed very differently than what it has been in his "second side" of life. May the "third side" be painted with HIS voice and say to the world what he wants to say, image he wants to portray, work he wants to do.
