Subject: i agree with you about 'SA' but i also think in terms of 'greatness' it's all relative b/c 9 times out of 10 when anyone is talking about naming a 'greatest' work it really comes down to 'personal favorite.' alot of folks would name bssm as the 'greatest' peppers album but why? was it the lyrical content or just the kick ass sexy grooves of most of the songs? what makes 'bssm superior to 'cali' or 'btw' or 'sa?' personally, the thing that grabs me most is lyrical content and ant. has grown SO MUCH over the years and for this reason, 'cali' is my fave album (i'm not saying 'greatest' as again, that's relative), followed by bssm and then SA. to me, it's all about growth and the fact that they continue to push themselves even at this stage in the game makes me proud to be a fan. i'm proud that they know 'bssm' is their most popular album but they flat out refuse to make 'bssm part 2.' moving forward. growth. God, i love those 4 men!
In reply to: Marshall 's message, "Sorry to sort of hijack the thread, but this brings to mind a question I find interesting - Most people agree that BSSM is the Peppers' best, but what does everyone consider their SECOND best? I'm actually gonna have to go with 'Stadium,' but I suppose that could just be because of the relative "newness" of it. But I really love it - I think it does a great job of balancing the craft of 'Cali'/'BTW' with some of the wreckless abandon of 'BSSM.' Thoughts?" on 11:17:13 11/09/06 Thu
