Date Posted: 05:27:00 01/02/07 Tue “Thousands of motorcyclists” may be riding illegally without their being aware. Due to an error at the DVLA, it would appear a number of bikers who have applied to replace their paper licence with a photo-identity licence have had documents returned with the entitlement to ride a bike removed. In some cases, this has led to bikers who have held a licence for years, being forced to retake their test. Advice from motorcycling organisations is to photocopy your old licence before applying for a new one and ensure the new photo-identity licences contain the correct categories when returned by the DVLA.
