I once briefly worked with an Engineer who had an immaculate Kawasaki GT550.I was only doing a bit of Temp work .One lunch break had a good look at the Kwak, thing was about 10 years oold and spotless,it did however have quite a serious looking oil leak from the head and I was suprised to see 70+000 miles up.I mentioned the oil leak to him,he said it was no big deal and he'd sort it.i said it was in supurb condition for a 70,000 mile bike.he told me that was the second time around the clock,in fact the original speedo had packed up with 105,000 miles up so the real mileage was nearly 180,000 miles. He commuted roughly 60 miles each way to work and as soon as he got home the bike was washed and dired, polished every weekend. It had had a new camchain, new cylinder head gasket and a rebore along the way but apart from that no more than regular maintenance Same guy had previously owned a BMW 800 that he got over 200,000 miles out of before it spewed it's guts somewhere along the A38 in terminal fashion. He was basically fanatical about maintenance and keeping his bikes clean but it paid off.I've heard of GT750 Kwaks and 900 Diversions going twice around the clock.
