The centre – especially designed to cater for the new EU motorcycle test – replaces the former centre in Southend, which will close to all vehicles on 5th December. DSA chief executive Rosemary Thew said: "The new motorbike test will contribute to improvements in road safety and this multi-purpose test centre fits into our overall vision of improving facilities for riders and drivers across Great Britain." The loss of the Southend centre will not cause the shedding of a tear by those candidates that failed as they followed instructions to take the first right without thinking – the Southend centre exit being on a dual-carriageway!
