Subject: MP calls for new test postponement in Wales

[ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] Date Posted: 05:09:12 04/24/09 Fri Welsh Liberal Democrat MP Mark Williams has called for the Government to postpone the introduction of the new motorcycle test in Wales, due to the lack of facilities. Mr Williams said that the six-month delay granted in October 2008 was because only 39 of 66 multi-purpose centres were ready. But only 5 more centres will have been readied by the launch date of the new test. Pointing out that some learners will face a round trip of 140 miles to take their test, Mr Williams said "The truth is that the Government have made a complete mess of the arrangements for the new test, but they could still provide a satisfactory solution if they offer more time. “There are serious concerns over safety and convenience, with inexperienced riders travelling long distances on difficult rural roads, particularly in bad weather conditions.” [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ]
