Subject: Pirelli closes plant for five days in July

 Tyre manufacturer Pirelli is closing two of their factories for five days, as part of a cost-saving attempt.

The plants – in Carlisle and Burton-upon-Trent – closed on Saturday 26th June, restarting production on 2nd July.

The move was said to be in response to lower than expected demand from Europe. A spokesman said "The company appreciates this is a worrying and financially challenging period for our employees however this action is necessary for securing the future of Pirelli in the UK."
