Date Posted: 05:56:29 11/25/10 Thu Carole Nash has warned bikers laying up their motorcycles for winter to make sure they satisfy new government rules. The alternative is risking their bike being destroyed. The insurer warns the DVLA is about to launch a crackdown on uninsured riders. Working with the Motor Insurance Database (MID) the DVLA is launching the continuous insurance scheme early next year, which introduces new penalties for riders who have not declared their bike as being off road - through a Statutory Off Road Notice (SORN) - or are uninsured. A letter will be sent to registered keepers. If no action is taken, penalties starting at a £100 fine, escalating to seizure and destruction of the bike will be employed. Carole Nash states that police are already seizing vehicles. [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
