Date Posted: 06:06:41 03/15/12 Thu A motorcyclist is lucky to be alive after a sheet of chipboard ‘the size of a car windscreen’ was dropped on him by vandals from a bridge. The plank struck Matthew field, 49, of Copthorne, as he rode along the Coulsdon bypass. He managed to keep upright and stop his Suzuki before collapsing. He was helped to safety by passers-by. Mr Field said "I was riding along and suddenly there was this tremendous impact on my chest and arms. I did not know what I had been hit by” adding "If it had hit me on the head or caught me on the neck, I could have been killed.I have been very lucky." The incident happened on 2nd March shortly before 8pm. Police believe two teenagers dropped the plank from the footbridge over the bypass, near Coulsdon Town Station. Anyone with information on the crime should call the police on 0208 6490100. [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
