Subject: Police to pay out for “not issuing suitable boots”

 Sussex Police is to pay compensation to an officer who broke his leg in a crash, after judges ruled he was provided unsuitable boots.

The officer was riding off-road on an advanced training course when he suffered the accident. At the time he was wearing “classic clubman tourer boots”, issued by the force. The court ruled the officer should have been issued with “stronger” motocross boots, after hearing evidence from an orthopaedic consultant.
