Subject: I just spent the day with them yesterday. I'm exhausted, but it was worth every minute. We went to the Mall of America. First we had to go on the rides. They were both determined at age 4 and 5 that they are not "little" kids anymore and wanted to try some bigger rides. We did the log chute and the medium rollercoaster among other things. They were a little scared but very proud that they did it. Next a stop at Legoland followed by lunch at McDonald's with Happy Meals. We finished up by getting some school clothes at Gap Kids which they tried on very carefully and distinct ideas about what they wanted. Lucy fell asleep in the car seat on the way home! We were lucky grandma didn't fall asleep driving!

[> [> [> [> That cracks me up about little kids -- such definitive ideas about SO many things...most little girls 4-7 years are about ready to be President... and failing that certainly have a plan for YOUR day! and most little kids when asked large conceptual or philosophical questions will try very earnestly to formulate an answer... -- Gaby, 08/20/09 6:39pm

I said, Lucy, they will be my GREAT grandchildren, and I would be very happy to be their GREAT grandmother. She thought about that and said, "Grandma, you'll probably be dead by then and in heaven with Santa Claus. -- Liz, 08/21/09 12:32pm
