Subject: CAYLEE'S LAW

The outrage over Casey Anthony and the verdict continues. Florida, along with a growing number of other states, is looking at making it a felony to fail to report your child missing withing 48 hours of their disappearance. It also would be a felony to not report a child'd death or the location of the body withing 48 hours of their death. There has been a petition circulating online that has more than 700,000 signatures. Hence, the things Casey did to hide Caylee's body and fail to report her missing so all the evidence could disappear would now become chargable offenses. There would be no reward now for getting away with murder. This was an AP news item with a byline by Brent Kallestad so I think it is legitimate.

[> The thing that amazes me is the defense's and jury's surprise that people think the verdict is incorrect. The one thing about putting camera's in the courtroom is that we also heard all of the evidence. We are not the -- Liz, 07/12/11 9:17am

[> [> I don't know what happened but that post "posted" itself while I was still typing. Anyone who disagrees with the verdict is being portrayed as "emotional" and "ignorant". I would describe the defense as "ignorant" for being surprised by the backlash. There is talk of relocating her out of the country and giving her plastic surgery, but some suggestion that she really wants to make money and start speaking to the pressk, doing the book and the movie deal -- Liz, 07/12/11 9:20am

[> [> [> Azaria Chamberland was killed by dingos, apparently, but this was only decided after her mother had been jailed for years, and been vilified by the press for not showing outward emotion at the trial or doing more about her appearance. The press shouldnt put people on trial; journalists only want a story -- poule, 07/13/11 3:39am
