Subject: Dale Sr. 1980 Champion car

 This one is for all of You diecast "Guro's". In this series of "Dale - The Movie" cars, #1 is related to as a 1980 champion car. Some places, advertise this as a 1980 Olds, when the car is a Monte Carlo - is this a misprint for what should have been called his '79 rookie car? I have the historical series one, which has nothing but the #2 on it - No racing decals, no "Mike Curb" on it. I bought the 2000 Action Olds, which on it, is claimed as 1980 champion. Bottom line & I ask - which is the real Mc Coy ??

Per www.racing-reference.info ,Dale drove an olds only 3 times with the chevy being his primary car for 1980 so I would say the chevy is the "championship" car.It also had different sponsors through the year from just the #2 to Mike Curb,Lowes and Wrangler. I thought the 1980 Movie car was supposed to be his charlotte win car based upon the date on the brass plate.But the championship was not decided till the last race of the year which was Ontario CA in which he finished 2nd to end the year a scant 19 points over Yarborough.joe03/ 2/08 19:31
