Fred, why go in there? As a non-believer, I could think of better uses for places of worship, but would not wish to deprive people of their ‘pleasure’.

All premises will end up with the clientele that they merit. You suggest a restaurant as a replacement. Those who can afford to eat out, in the true sense of the expression, drive, or are driven, to the excellent restaurants available at the Marina, or nearby Brighton.

To be fair, it's actually the 'sports bar' in the Spanish that is truly a dump, caused largely by the clientele. I agree that where these types hide themselves during daylight hours is a mystery. The snug is a fairly pleasant affair and the visiting grannies during the Butlins heyday were kindly and their incontinent antics and senility were always a welcome distraction.

A good makeover or fire would be a suitable solution, although I was positively encouraged to discover from the article that I could score some coke in there.
