] Date Posted: 07:56:37 10/07/08 Tue In reply to: Glenys Revell 's message, "Planning Application Saltdean Barn" on 07:01:17 09/02/08 Tue I would just like to put the record straight as there seems to have been so many mis-informed comments on this website. 1. Glenys Revell and Gary Manders have stated that our planning application has not followed the correct procedures. We did the following in order: a. I had a meeting with Glenys and told her of our extension plans before any planning application had been submitted, we discussed the future of the Terrapin Hut and how this could be incorporated into this plan. b. We hand delivered letters to all the local residents around the park explaining our extension plans and also wrote to St Nicholas playgroup. c. We also wrote to Saltdean Residents Association to explain our plans. As my deputy and I are on this committee we left the room while the committee considered this issue. It was decided to take the matter to an open public meeting on 2.2.08. d. Over 50 Saltdean residents who voted unanimously to support our application attended the public meeting. e. We submitted the drawings to Brighton and Hove City Council conservation team and planning team in March 08. f. The council wrote to the required number of local residents as per local authority regulations and adverts were placed in the local press. Signs were put on lampposts and a 3 week consultation period followed. g. We were contacted by the council to say that Glenys had not received her letter and so a further 3 week consultation period followed. 2. Regarding car parking in our contracts with our parents we require them to abide by parking regulations or lose their place with us. To date we have had no request from local residents to take action further but this is still an option open to us should it become a problem in the future. 3. With reference to comments about St Martins closing, we have had a 100% rent increase. As a charity, and therefore a non-profit making group we have had to revaluate our plans due to financial constraints. However, with St Martins receiving ‘Outstanding’ in our last OFSTED report, closing would be as a last resort. 4. Regarding TV watching, we DO NOT OWN A TV! And have not done so for 2 years since the regulations changed and nurseries need to pay for an entertainments licence, we felt this cost would be better spent elsewhere. I hope that this has cleared up a few points should anyone need clarification on any other points please email me. Helen Hicks Manager Boomerang Kids. Date Posted: 16:14:02 10/17/08 Fri I have done pole dancing & would be more than happy to teach it to anyone who may wish to be employed at the barn if it gets a licence for after hours entertainment as requested by Brad Spit. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |
