The NHL trade freeze will be over before we know it now...some rumors say the Panthers would be committing suicide by parting with Pavel regardless of how difficult he can be...others say he is trade bait simply because the Panthers can overhaul the team by offering just Pavel. If he is traded, it will happen in the next few days...I don't think Mike Keenan will waste any time. However, I know Keenan has a good working relationship with Bure and the coach will think more than twice before parting with a pet player.
Changing half the teams doesn't guarantee an improvement...definitely not overnight...and if the Panthers part with Pavel and don't find themselves in the Cup series again in five years...they will be kicking themselves and such a trade will go down in Panthers history as a mistake.
