Great inside story from Jim Carnegie.
I had a similar experience as Jim when I called "Rusty" when he was staying at his Mom's house. I was PD at WHN at the time. Jeff and I had been friends when we were both in Pittsburgh and I would certainly considered him if I had an opening at WHN. It's probably best I didn't. Once he became a star as Rush Limbaugh, I kidded him that I could have ruined his career by hiring him as a country radio deejay, as he would have done well as a New York deejay and maybe never found his voice as Rush.
