It wasn't uncommon in those days for new management, bringing "new radio" concepts, to offer old, established personalities a chance to work with them, but some either couldn't cut it or refused to follow a format (or a playlist that was not of their choosing). For instance, Martin Block left WABC and Al Jarvis left KFWB when those stations went top-40. On the other hand, KFWB jazz jock B. Mitchell Reed agreed to give it a shot, and look what happened to him.

In the case of KQV, Dave Scott stayed and Al Nobel left. The reasons are probably lost to time as all concerned are gone.
