I can't remember if all the local stations did Christmas promos back then, but for whatever reason, WTAE's have always stuck with me. Yep, I remember this one. If I'm not mistaken, the music was a combination of two songs; the first song escapes me, but if I recall, it led into just a few bars of "Deck the Halls" at the conclusion of the promo. That promo kind of replaced one that had been airing for years before [and which is one of my earliest childhood TV memories]: a version of "Carol of the Bells". My dad recorded it on reel-to-reel audio tape in the late '60's, and somewhere around here that tape still exists! A buddy of mine also remembers the "Carol of the Bells" spot, and we were both excited when WTAE started putting vintage video on YouTube a few years back, hoping these Christmas clips would be included. Alas, they weren't. Perhaps they don't want to offend anyone, ha ha! Like you, I'd love to see those clips again, and look forward to the day when it happens. Thanks to the internet, I've been able to hear and see a TON of music and video that I thought I'd NEVER experience again as long as I lived....... so keep up the hope!
