The pianist with the flourishs you recall was Al Morgan, who had his own 30-minute program on the Dumont network from 1949-51. It was carried here on WDTV (Channel 3), which under its later CBS affiliation became KDKA-TV (Channel 2).

I do not recall Morgan making appearances on "The Wilkins Amateur Hour" with Al Nobel, but you could be correct. I didn't think Morgan was local. Maybe Dumont sent him in occasionally.

I believe one of Morgan's sponsors was a bread brand such as Wonder or Tip Top.

Can anyone refine these recollections and clarify?
