Bill Brady was news director when I came back to KDKA after two years at KQV. Maybe it was his Marine background, but he was one helluva leader. If you had work late on a story or come in early for a story, he would be there with you. Bill would empty trash cans, change teletype paper, anything little task to let you focus on your job. He was one of those bosses you worked with, not for, and he gained the respect of us grunts. But, I'll remember most Bill's love of golf. He wore a weighted glove on his wounded right arm to help in grip the club and had strength to his swing, and he would play all year round, even in snow and sub-freezing temperatures. I played nine holes with him once in ankle-deep snow, and it was too much for me. I actually told my boss he was "fu--ing crazy!" Bill was a great guy. RIP, buddy.
