Subject: Harry West

1969-71 is the period when I worked at KQV, and it was quite an experience. The first news director I worked for there, Phil Hayes, used ask me to record two or three newscasts in advance so we could go across the street to the DeLuxe Arcade and play pinball machines. If I objected, Phil would point his finger at me and "order" me to do it. What could I do? Phil eventually moved on to another ABC O&O, WXYZ in Detroit. The staff back then included Harry West, Fred Winston, Gary Gears, Jim Quinn, Bob DeCarlo, Mark Schaefer, Carl Eckels and Bob Harvey, among others. We did have some fun!
