Being a booth announcer at then-WIIC-TV has to be the most boring job I've ever had. You had a desk, a TV set, a mike and a mike switch, and it was mostly doing station breaks every half-hour. It was wonderful getting to do a live spot, a promo or a program intro just to break up the routine. I got a lot of TV-watching, reading and crossword puzzles done back then.
