That was in 1975, when KDKA's latest volley in the war with Prince was to seat people in the back of the radio booth at Three Rivers Stadium.

This annoyed Prince in two ways: 1. He had used the oversized booth (comfortably seated at least 10 people) for his own guests and 2. KDKA put in people who were often disruptive. Nellie King's book has the exact details, but it was actually in the contracts that no guests could be seated in the booth without KDKA's approval.

They used those extra seats for clients or friends of clients or people who knew friends of clients. People would make noise, which would annoy Prince. Once there was a guy smoking a cigar, and Prince hated cigar smoke. People would wander down to the front row to take pictures of Prince or ask for autographs.

In the incident you mentioned, a Cubs catcher named George Mitterwald hit a home run against the Pirates and the guests applauded and cheered because they were Cubs fans. Prince yelled at them, then talked about it on the broadcasts for the rest of the season.
