I had mentioned the late John Demchak in passing in another post, which got me to googling. John, as many people here well know, was an enigmatic, inscrutable figure who touched the lives of just about everyone working in Radio in the greater Pittsburgh area.

I couldn't find anything via google, until I thought to add Radio Hoffnung to my search terms. Here's a few interesting links, starting with a Win Fanning column:

Apparently one of his proteges, David Somerville, carried the Hoffnung work forward in more recent years in the form of an online book:

"The Visitor's Guide to the Duky of Grande Holfknong is a continuing work and hobby which began in the mid-sixties, when the good doctor was a writer and performer on the Intercollege Broadcasting System's (IBS) "Radio Holfknong" series. This book is also a tribute, of sorts, to his good friend and colleague John Demchack, alias James Wing of Radio Holfknong fame."
